Dr Nasir Aminu is a Nigerian-British economist and a Full-Time Lecturer (Tenured Professor) at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he also serves as Research Ethics Coordinator at Cardiff School of Management.
His academic interests lie in the political economies of Africa, the United Kingdom, and Europe. His teaching covers macroeconomics, the history of economic philosophy, and the economics of public policy.
His research examines business cycles, energy policy, macro-finance, and the economics of education. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Energy, the Journal of Environmental Management, and Energy Economics.
He has held several academic leadership roles, including Economics Programme Director. He currently serves as the University's Link Academic with partner institutions in Singapore and Greece, and has taught at international partner institutions in Oman, China, and the United Arab Emirates.
His wider interests include political economy, public policy, and the role of institutions in economic development. He writes on political and economic affairs; his columns appear in international publications such as the World Economic Forum Agenda and The Conversation, as well as in national dailies including the Daily Trust and Sahara Reporters.
